Returning to the Magic: Why The Unapparent Hopes to Revisit Hulaween

Last year marked a special milestone for The Unapparent Magazine.

For the first time, we had the opportunity to experience Hulaween not only as attendees, but as members of the press.

What we discovered wasn’t simply a music festival, it was a living gallery where music, sculpture, light, performance, storytelling, and human connection existed in unity.

While the performances were unforgettable, it was the creative spirit surrounding the festival that stayed with us. Wandering through Spirit Lake, speaking with artists and creators, and witnessing immersive installations reminded us why The Unapparent exists in the first place: to celebrate art in all forms and to give visibility to the people who bring it into the world.

Our publication has always believed that art shouldn’t exist in isolation.

A painting, a sculpture, a photograph, a stage performance, or an interactive installation all become part of a larger conversation when they’re experienced together.

Hulaween embodies that philosophy in a way few events can. It creates a space where creativity isn’t confined to galleries or stages, it spills into every path, every gathering, and every moment shared between strangers.

Returning this year would allow us to continue telling those stories.

Our goal isn’t simply to document performances.

We hope to highlight the artists behind the installations, explore the creative process that transforms Spirit Lake each year, share conversations with performers and attendees, and capture the atmosphere that makes Hulaween such a singular experience.

We want our readers, many of whom may never attend, to understand not just what the festival looks like, but what it feels like.

At The Unapparent Magazine, we believe art has the power to connect people across disciplines and backgrounds. Hulaween continues to be one of the strongest examples of that philosophy in practice, and we’re excited about the possibility of returning to documenting another chapter of its ever-evolving story

Whether through interviews, photography, written features, or behind-the-scenes perspectives, our hope is to continue sharing the creativity, imagination, and humanity that make Hulaween unlike anywhere else.

Here’s to another year of discovery and hopefully, another opportunity to experience the magic under the sky and among the trees.
